Lakawon Island
Lakawon Island on Negros Occidental, the island is located off the coastline of cadiz and can be reached via 25 minute boat ride from cadiz viejo. Barangay Cadiz Viejo can be reached by travelling by land. It is 58 kms north of Bacolod City, A transit would take you 1 hour from the heart of Bacolod to cadiz viejo fishing village.
After a week of planning and preparations, me and couple of my friends packed our bags and start hitting the road on wake of dawn even though the skies were cloudy, thingking that we dont wanna waste a week of planning we decided to say show must go on. We had a fortunate oppurtunity to have an easier way to travel, thanks to my friends car, we drove only for 40 minutes from Bacolod City to Cadiz viejo without a sweat. After arriving in Cadiz, things got out of hand when we got lost on our way to the fishing village were you can rent a boat for a price of 600 pesos that will get you to lakawon Island and bring you back whenever you feel like going back. Thanks to the friendly locals in a few turns, finally we arrive at the fishing village. The resort’s pumpboat which seats 12 passengers handles the transfers from the Cadiz port to Lakawon White Sand Island Resort. It took us 25 minute on a boat to reach our final destination "Yehey" island called lakawon.
Lakawon Island the closest white sand beach from Bacolod City. The island has 15 cottages with basic amenities including beds, towels, soaps, tables and chairs. It has a restaurantt, a videokebar and open cottages where you can dine and relax. You can bring some food of your choice but there is a catch, each person have to order atleast 100 pesos so that you wont have additional charges. Open cottages ranges from 300 to 500 pesos depending on the size. I always enjoyed Snorkling since i had my first pair of googles. I went snorkling close to the shore to get a get a good view of what they have there. My excitement was gone when i noticed that there were no corals nearby,got desappointed but even though there were'nt any fishes, i still enjoyed swimming on the clear blue water trying to get a tan..
